The latest release of Actiontastic 0.9 bring synchronization with iCal and the possibility for virtually work from everywhere. Actiontastic is a GTD application that start to look pretty good. The current version makes the sync with iCal by making your contexts calendars in iCal, and transforming your action in those contexts in iCal To Do’s.

One of the hidden gems in this release is the creation of a special context, called @inbox. When you input data in this context while you are in iCal or on your PDA, the next sync will bring those items into Actiontastic Inbox. This makes an interesting step ahead in the collection process of Actiontastic, which alreaady had a big plus by having Quicksilver integration. The overall feeling of the application is a little spartan, but, as Merlin Mann at 43 folders mentioned, this can be a great plus: it will actually let you focus on the doing, rather than fooling around. Actionstastic already sync’ed with iPod and with this release I think they can have a significant step from taking it out of beta and making it production-ready.
I haven’t used it extensively, other than testing it for several hours, but one of the stuff that attracted me was the Quicksilver integration. The bundle comes with a “Send to Quicksilver” plugin that you can install, and then actually type stuff wherever you are in your Mac and send it to Actiontastic with one keystroke. Also, a better project management support inside the application would be great.
Check it out here.
